Having a longer wheelbase makes these bikes more stable at high speeds, meaning your bike will feel sturdier and you will be able to handle all sorts of terrain more easily than on a smaller bike. Their larger frames are more suited to racing and long-distance riding and cruising around town, hence they are also known as "cruiser bikes". The wheel diameter is also significantly larger, which will affect the bike's handling characteristic, so while they are heavier and not as nimble as their smaller counterparts, they will roll over obstacles more easily and won't get so hung up on rough terrain because the thicker tyres provide more traction and less chance of getting any flats.
