Tyson also has his term 2 dates for Freestyle BMX coaching up too, so if you'd like to be involved, then send through an e-mail to book a spot.
Foundation (level 1) coaching: For riders who are newer to BMX, or riders who want to nail the basics, this class will be focusing on learning and perfecting the most important aspects of freestyle BMX.
Improver (level 2) coaching: For riders who are confident with foundation movements in freestyle BMX, but are looking to expand their trick repertoire and improve on their skills.
January 2022 School Holiday BMX coaching
Tyson has got some BMX coaching going down at 3 skateparks across Canberra over the school holidays. This is fitting in with a busy time of BMX competitions in the Snowy Monaro region.. Which means it could be a good way to brush up on some BMX skills for the comp series.
The Snowy Monaro/Southern Region skatepark series kicks off mid January, with stops at:
- Cooma skatepark, January 18
- Queanbeyan skatepark, January 20
- Tumut skatepark January 22
Then 8 more stops in the same series, until the finals in April at Jindabyne.
The beginner coaching is suitable for riders reasonably new to BMX, but if you have any questions or would like to know what group you'd fit into, or to book, please email coaching@backbonebmx.com.au
Spots are limited!

Ride BMX this school holidays
What are you gonna do this school holidays?
Ride BMX, that's what!
There's no better time to progress your riding than by getting oh-so treasured extra hours on the BMX bike, with no school to get in your way.
Now that school holidays is approaching and the free time that comes with it, it's a good time for riders to get an extra leg up on their skills with BMX coaching.
So, we're hosting school holiday BMX coaching sessions at Belconnen skatepark. Canberra school holiday activities tend to never cater to the Canberra BMX community, but this one should be right up your alley.
We're intentionally sticking to small groups of 12 riders between 2 coaches, that way we can work with riders no matter the skill level.
If you are a beginner who is new to BMX, you'll be catered to just as much as a rider who is having trouble with tailwhips.
We're stoked with how our first term of BMX coaching went and we saw a real increase in skills in such a short time, if you want to jump on the progression train, now's your chance!
BMX really is one of the best things to do in Canberra, and with a bit of skills coaching it will make BMX even more fun for you.
