I've spent the last 30 years of my life riding BMX, and the entire time I've been building jumps to ride my bike on.
I grew up without a skatepark in a country town, so building my own thing to ride is what I'm used to doing.
I moved to Canberra when I was 18 and met Rhys, the founder of Backbone BMX, who is also a dedicated trail builder. He let me come to his trails; and building jumps with him and the crew continued on there for the next 20 years.
Now I've moved from Canberra to a place outside of the town of Bundaberg on a property, where I'm lucky enough to be somewhere with enough room to build my own private spot, where it can't get dozed.
It's a long process building solo, but I'm enjoying the journey.
I thought I'd share it with you.
Right now I'm working on the third iteration of the berm I have to start the line. You might see some tips on how I am working with dry dirt to continue to build and shape.
If you want to see more of the journey there's a bunch of videos on my personal instagram too.
