DONATE TO FUNDRAISER BELOW

Rhysty, AKA Rhys Williams, AKA Backbone BMX founder and my best mate, went down super hard while BMX racing at the World Championships in Brisbane.

He suffered a skull fracture where his skull meets his spinal cord, fractured neck, as well as a bleeding brain.

He transported to hospital by Ambulance, spending two weeks in the Princess Alexandra hospital.

Rhys traveled to Brisbane from Canberra with his son Riley for the World's, so needless to say that's not a situation you would hope to be in; especially so far away from home.

Rhys was eventually transferred to Canberra hospital after 2 weeks, having to fly. He has been released from hospital, but it's going to be a long road to recovery.

Rhysty is as tough as they come and is already talking about doing work at the new Tuggeranong track in Canberra (wishful thinking).

Being a 50 year old husband and dad of 3 kids... there is a lot to look after when you're not injured, let alone when you are in Rhys' current state.

This fundraiser is to help Rhys get the physical therapy that's needed to help him get back on his feet quicker, as well as to hopefully take some pressure off some of the other costs that are associated with his injury.

I want to add that I have spoken with Rhys' wife Alison and she gave me the okay for a fundraiser (it was my suggestion), on the provision that people don't donate big amounts. She really doesn't want people to donate more than they can afford, especially in this current era of living.

I think, given Rhysty's influence and impact on Australian BMX, it is more of a good way to help out someone who has done so much for so many.

Thank you, Tyson
